Human Rights Fair
27 August 2008 11-2 at the Plaza
Flinders University
Amnesty International, together with other organisations will be holding a Human Rights Fair on Wednesday 27 August
from 11-2 pm at the Plaza. Many different aspects of human rights will be represented including:
· ‘Uncensor’: Amnesty International’s campaign to end internet censorship and repression in China
· Women’s human rights: especially the right of women to live free from violence
· Environment and human rights
· Other groups will also be taking part and showcasing their campaigns.
More highlights include a DJ, BBQ, food for sale, fun games, interactive activities and more!

ANNUAL FUNDRAISER

The SA/NT Branch are organising the annual Fundraiser! – tickets will be available to purchase prior to the event.
It will be a mix of Forum (focussing on “The Value of Life”), Speakers and Entertainment, held on International Day against the Death Penalty.
Speakers will include an ethicist, a legal spokesperson and possibly someone from the Arts community. There will also be entertainment (still in the planning stage) and a Silent Auction.
More details will be available soon, just make sure this date is firmly in your diary!

Group Support - Fieldworkers are here
Amnesty International is trialling fieldworkers as part of the long term Mobilising for Impact strategy (M4I). The trial will run in South Australia and Queensland from July, with fieldworkers on the ground for six months.
Fieldworkers will be part of the Community Campaign team and will provide training, guidance and group support including: strategic campaigning techniques; event management; group management; recruitment and retention of new members; getting new groups up and running.
In South Australia we will have fieldworkers based in the Adelaide Hills, Unley and Adelaide City. To organise some time with your fieldworker, either by phone, email or face to face, call the Action Centre on 08 8110 8100

The SA Action Centre (AC)
